5 Weirdest Green Products
Written by: Sarfaraz Nasir
Green is red hot and in-style these days. Rich and famous are finding ways to showcase their exclusive possessions by using unusual biodegradable products. The growing popularity of green living has helped creativity to find its way to the eco-friendly world. Companies around the world are competing to come up with products that are environmental friendly and unique. In this quest, weird and interesting products are being developed.
A Taiwanese company has reportedly begun manufacturing dinnerware out of wheat, effectively allowing you to eat your plate after you’ve finished your meal. Most people have considered this news story as a joke. My research so far about the edible dinnerware has found no such products (but again, I am not that creative). Anyways, I did find some other weird and interesting green products that have caught the eyes around world.
Here are the top 5 weirdest green products:
1. BMW Lovos 260 – The Scaly Beast
Don’t get scared. Fortunately, this (looking kind a straight from the movie Transformers) is just a concept car. A 24-year-old graduate of Pforzheim University in Germany is the inventor of this wacky BMW Lovos 260 car. The Lovos means the Lifestyle of Voluntary Simplicity.
The odd looking scaly flaps on the car collect solar power as well as act as air brakes. The scales on the wheels creates a semblance of turbines. As the car moves, the scales change the position and move into the wheel. Although the exterior of the car looks more mechanical and technical (at times scary), the interior is soft and warm.

2. Bio Tube Bench

The Bio tube bench is created by Julian Lwin, a famous green products designer. The bench is created from recycled cardboard cylinders which are embedded with seeds using a cellulose liquid that overtime biodegrade and turn into an instant garden. The unconventional and weird design raises many questions. Sarah Rich at Inhabitat posed an interesting question we all like to know, “what is this thing going to look like in 6 months, while it is in the process of bio-degrading?”.
3. Wooden Bike

This is an invention by a 16-yr-old high school student, Marco Facciola. At least, creativity does not foster any age discrimination. Marco Facciola built the entire bike using only wood and glue while working on a non-academic ‘personal project’ to meet school requirements. I know, you all want to know, how it feels to ride on this bike?
4. G-Oil – The green motor engine oil
In March 2009, the Green Earth Technology announced the arrival of world’s first eco friendly motor engine oil. This biodegradable engine oil is made from American-grown renewal animal fats. Unlike conventional engine oils, which takes three barrels of crude oil to produce one barrel of motor oil, G-Oil requires only one barrel of animal fats to produce one barrel of motor oil. Now, who says fat is bad? You just have to find the right use of it.
5. Biodegradable Umbrella

Too much rain? Well, you can now protect yourself from the rain with the chic, unique and green umbrella created by Brelli. This stylish looking eco friendly umbrella is made from the sturdy bamboo and patent pending printable bioplastic canopy. The umbrella is completely recyclable and degrades in 1 to 2 years after being discarded. Now, that’s elegantly weird!
These top 5 weirdest green products announced the arrival of the creativity to the eco friendly world. According to Edwin Land, creativity is the sudden cessation of stupidity. A. A. Miline says, one of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries. Everyone defines creativity in many artistic ways. However, one thing is for sure, the creativity has no boundaries.

I love the wooden bike idea, I should look at making one out of concrete. They could be marketed as built in resistance from the weight and you would also get a workout just by carrying the thing around. Thanks for the laugh.

You would not want to pump your car with dirty fuel.
So filling you body with foods that are not healthy should be common sense. Take care of your body and your body will take care of you. Living a healthy life style is about making smart food choices.
