The true meaning of conservation
Written by: Admin
A Nation’s strength lies both in its people and in its natural resources. Neither can exist in its highest state without the other. Therefore, it is necessary to conserve our natural resources. Conservation is a practice of carefully using available non-renewable natural resources and limiting wastes. Conservation helps taking better care of life and health of the people. One way to conserve is, when a tree is cut down, we shall plant another.
Many people often misunderstand the concept of conservation. They often think conservation as a practice of limiting that hinders the progress. We all should thoroughly understand the true meaning of conservation. So, we can be part of the solution.
Let’s try to understand what conservation means and does not mean:
Conservation
| Does not mean | Means |
| Locking up of our resources, nor a hindrance to real progress in any direction | Only wise, careful use |
| Stop cutting timber | Not wasting two-thirds of all timber that is cut |
| Not allowing farms to produce crops | Preventing the rich top-soil drain off into our rivers |
| Letting mines of coal and iron lie unused | Leaving as little waste in the mine as possible, and using what we take in the most economical way |
| Stop burning coal immediately to generate power | Finding and using alternative energy resources |
| Stop using water beyond our basic necessities | Limiting our water waste and recycling water |
Hopefully, this will help remove confusion about the conservation and encourage you to conserve our natural resources.
