In 1997, the National Recycling Coalition (nrc-recycle.org) started celebrating November 15th as the National Recycles Day. The main purpose of the National Recycles Day is to create awareness about the importance of recycling. Although the progress has been made, we still have a long way to go. Around 60% of our rubbish trashed today can be recycled. We all must make small changes to our habits and actively participate in recycling efforts at home and work.

Recycling is the most important and easiest green activity. Recycling helps conserve our natural resources, valuable energy, and space at landfills. Recycling also reduces emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to the global climate change.

Since today is the National Recycles Day, I like to celebrate the day by giving few easy recycling tips that hopefully everyone can adopt.

Quick and Easy Recycling Tips:

1. Make yourself aware about what you can and can’t recycle. Check recycling guidelines for your town or city to make sure you thrash things appropriately.

2. Encourage recycling and eliminate waste by buying products that are made out of recycled materials.

3. Give away used items that you no longer use or need. There is always someone who can use them.

4. Become a recycling artist. Find creative ways to make new things from the used items.

5. Reduce the use of paper and ink. For example, ask for a receipt only if you need it, print double side on the paper, and pay bills online.

6. Spread the word. Tell your friends and family about the importance of recycling.

Let’s make the America beautiful. Let’s recycle.

Happy National Recycles Day!
